Today we presented Perfect Attendance Awards to members who achieved a perfect attendance record over the past year.  Thirty-three members qualified for recognition award this year.  It is impressive to learn how many Club members have attained 20+ successive years of Perfect Attendance!  In fact, so many that to be listed as an award recipient in this post you needed to, at least, be in double figures.  Congratulations to all.

Heading the list … at 35 years is Jim Bowen, then Bob McClanahan –  29 years, Earline Orndorff – 24 years, Bill Long – 23 years, Lew McClung – 23 years, Mooch Semones – 23 years, Mark Henrickson – 22 years, Herm Reavis-  22 years, Dan Hall – 20 years.

Under 20 were… Joe Ferguson – 15 years, June Hall Long – 12 years, Lowell Gobble – 11 years, Skip Lautenschlager – 11 years, and Lenora Downing – 10 years.

We concluded the meeting by getting the chance to learn more about two of our New Members Ron Bradbury and Charlie Thompson through their Vocational speeches.

Ron is six months into his administrative position at American National University.  Lenora Downing, his supervisor, was his sponsor.  Ron has traveled in the Far East and Europe. He and his wife Terri have three children.

Charlie retired in 2008 after a long career with the YMCA and YUSA. He noted how Rotary and the YMCA espouse compatible missions.  Charlie was a Rotarian in the Northeast before moving to the Roanoke Valley with his wife Paula to be near family.
