Club Meeting – August 21st, 2014
“Building a Company with the Help of a Community”
Jonathan Hagmaier, CEO Interactive Achievement, “where learning never stops”
Interactive Achievements’s (IA) goal is to create programs that give educators the most accurate assessment of student progress throughout the school year so every student has the greatest chance to succeed. IA’s software solutions assist hundreds of school districts, raising the bar for student achievement.
As a teacher you need to know when and how to help a student. An important part of IA’s success is how they carefully listened to Virginia’s school administrators and teachers. As IA expanded outside the commonwealth it became evident how far ahead schools in Virginia are in utilizing this technology as an educational tool. IA constantly strives to create new ways for educators to track student progress and potential.
Mr. Hagmaier spoke to the Club about the critical role mentors, many of whom are members of the Roanoke Blacksburg Technology Council, have played in his companies success. Mr. Hagmaier is currently a VP of the BRTC Executive Committee. Since the company’s founding in 2006 their sales have grown from $100,000 to $8,000,000 and from 3 employees to 62. The quality of schools in our valley helps IA hire employees from outside the region.
Our speaker encouraged Club members to reach out and by sharing our failures and successes empower others to attain their dreams . Mr. Hagmaier encouraged Salemites not to loose that “championship mentality” in all we do as a community… “to not let go of that tradition.” To set the bar high and help each other over the top.
