Hardware to Jamaica

On March 7 the Club BoD also approved $500 in funding toward a matching grant project to ship the hardware from Northwest Hardware to Jamaica.  As you may recall, when Northwest Hardware changed suppliers a year ago, they had inventory worth hundreds of thousands of dollars that needed to be disposed of.  Rather than placing in a landfill, David Lewis convinced the owner of Northwest Hardware to donate the inventory to Rotary to be shipped overseas to support Rotary projects.  We are applying for a District grant, which would then be matched by a Rotary Foundation grant, to fund the project.  Three other Rotary clubs in our District are also participating along with Goodwill Industries.

Thanks to David Lewis and Bruce Phipps for their support of this project.  A big thanks also to Brad Bankston who wrote the grant application!
