Club Meeting – Jan. 24th

012413Speaker Karen Thompson, Executive Director of the Black Child Development Institute, visited with us from Greensboro N.C. to promote formation of a “Freedom School” in Roanoke.  Freedom School is a literacy based summer enrichment program that focuses on helping young children fall in love with reading, increase their self-esteem, and generate more positive attitudes canada goose buy in london online store toward learning.  In addition to reading, participants have the opportunity to engage in afternoon enrichment activities such as, the Arts, Technology, and Nutrition.  The enthusiasm and passion expressed in her presentation say a great deal of why this project has been successful.  As a result of Linda’s talk, several Rotarians are beginning to explore options for canada goose expedition parka 2xs on sale a Freedom School in Roanoke.
