Club Meeting – November 21st, 2013
Today we were honored to have District Governor Dan Mabry and Assistant Governor of Area 8 Beth Pline as our guest.
District Governor Dan Mabry comments:
DG Dan made brief comments related to November being Rotary International’s Foundation month. This month’s theme correlates directly to two of the three focus areas of DG Dan’s term.
End Polio Now – We are so close to accomplishing a historic task, but the last hurdles are perhaps more daunting than our successful efforts to date. The job is not finished.
The Annual Fund Share Program – That portion of Rotary’s Annual Fund which contributes back to each Rotary district according to their contribution is vital to the D7570 being able to provide grants to Club projects. He thanked all Sustainers whose donations help capitalize this fund.
Membership – Membership in Rotary is a continuing concern especially in the U.S. We must continue our efforts to find like-minded individuals who espouse the tenets of Rotary. It is important to engage new members, as quickly as possible, in those aspects of community or international service that attracted them to join our Rotary family.
Earline Orndorf gave a review of the upcoming needs and dates for this years Christmas for Kids.
We require 30-40 volunteers on December the 13th to help wrap gifts and stuff Christmas stockings at the Salem Senior Center @ 6PM.
