Club Meeting – April 17th, 2014
The topic of our program today was Feeding America Southwest Virginia (FASWVA). Feeding America SWVA was founded in 1981 and proudly commemorates 33 years of fighting hunger and changing lives through community partnerships.
The program was presented by Jenny Doud, Vice President of External Affairs, and Carissa South, Annual Fund & Corporate Relations Officer. Their mission is to end hunger through a network of partners and to engage our community in this worthwhile endeavor. Cabel Brand a charter member of our Club, who was in attendance today, has been a strong supporter of their efforts for 30 years.

In 26 counties and 9 cities of our region FASWVA has provided 20 million pounds of food to those in need. Members became aware of the concept of “food insecurity” which is an integral part of their fight against hunger in our community.
Carrisa spoke of Corporate Community Partner Programs such as Project 360 where businesses can participate and involve their employees in various aspects in the fight against hunger in their communities.
